Now What?


The Conger Family is moving to New Zealand! The girls are ready for a new adventure, new horizons, new friends. Our cruising life is not over... we’re just shifting to a land based operation for awhile. We plan to hike, bike, and train over the next three years.

 
 

Because we travel with kids, safety, comfort, reliability and maintenance are extremely important to us. We upgraded the electrical system, the dinghy and outboard, and our communications systems. We added solar panels, a water maker, and an Ideal windlass.

Don Quixote is more than a boat to us -- she has been our home, our school, our gateway to adventure. In 2005, we realized that our family was caught in the wheels of the Real World. We were not spending enough time together, looking up from our work, loving life. So we purchased Don Quixote from her original owner and began the long journey to let go of what we knew and embrace the cruising dream.

 

About Us

There are small customizations which nevertheless set Don Quixote aside as singularly comfortable for cruising even in a category -- Lagoon catamarans -- renown for quality and comfort. For example, we built sink and counter extenders which dramatically improve the usability of the galley. We transformed hanging lockers with movable shelves, converted unused dead space under the helm into a life jacket locker, and made it possible to drop the salon table for use as a fourth bed.

Don Quixote is ready for a new cruising family. Whether you single hand, travel as a couple, or your life is full of children as ours is, this boat is the ideal platform. Step aboard, fill the lockers and refrigerators with food, and leave the next day knowing that she is already equipped to travel along the coast, across the Sea and on to new horizons.
